Sankofa symbol, a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol meaning 'go back and fetch'

What Guides My Work

Years ago, I visited Ghana where I was introduced to a symbol called the “Sankofa.” Sankofa translates to “go back and fetch,” and reflects the idea that the past often holds lost strength and wisdom. That message has always stayed with me.

A lot of us learn to push through pain, keep things to ourselves, and survive without having a chance to process what we've been through. But what if the experiences that shaped you no longer carried the same weight? What if they could help us move through life with a little more  clarity and choice?

To me, therapy is about helping people move toward that kind of change.

What Guides My Work

Therapy office environment representing counseling services

Services Offered

Specialty Areas

Trauma, PTSD & C-PTSD

Understanding trauma and the ways difficult experiences can continue affecting life long after they're over.

Other Areas of Focus

Anxiety

Constant worry, overthinking, panic, and feeling on edge can be exhausting.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

Therapy that respects your identity, relationships, and lived experience without requiring you to explain or defend who you are.

Whether you're dealing with trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, therapy can help you make sense of what's happening and figure out what actually helps.

Individual Therapy

OCD & ERP

Specialized treatment for OCD, intrusive thoughts, and compulsions using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Depression

Depression doesn't always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like exhaustion, numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself and the people around you.

Therapy for Black Men

Therapy for Black men navigating stress, trauma, relationships, identity, and the pressures that often come with carrying a lot for others.

Identity & Life Transitions

Transitions often come with questions about identity, purpose, direction, and what comes next.

Other Approaches

Eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR helps you process difficult memories and feel less stuck in the impact of the past.

I also integrate CBT, CPT, somatic approaches, mindfulness, and other evidence-based interventions depending on your goals and needs.

Evidence-Based Therapy Approaches

Different concerns often respond better to different approaches. Together, we'll identify which tools and treatment methods make the most sense for your goals, needs, and comfort level.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems helps you understand the different thoughts, emotions, and protective patterns that develop throughout life.

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP helps you gradually face intrusive thoughts and fears without relying on rituals, avoidance, or reassurance.

Fees & Payment Options

Private-pay, HSA/FSA, Out-of-Network, and sliding options available throughout Washington DC, Virginia, Florida, and North Carolina.
